Accounting Seminar Students Tour Link-Belt

Dr. Isaacs' Advanced Management Accounting Seminar class visits Link Belt

On Wednesday, March 2, EKU’s Advanced Management Accounting Seminar class toured the manufacturing facilities of Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company. Ten students were accompanied by their professor, Dr. Trish Isaacs.  Students participating in the tour included three MBA students with a concentration in accounting and seven seniors who are accounting majors.

The Institute of Management Accountants student night was held February 28, 2016.  The evening included a presentation by Lisa James, Division Director, and Charlie Brown, Recruiting Manager, with Robert Half Inc.  They offered a number of useful tips for the job search, including how to find a job, networking, writing a resume, interviewing, and negotiating an offer.  

EKU Class Partners with Local Agencies to Provide Free Income Tax Preparation

An Eastern Kentucky University accounting class is partnering with the Central Kentucky Economic Empowerment Project and Kentucky River Foothills Community Action Agency to offer basic income tax preparation for those making $54,000 or less.

Shearer Receives Top Co-op Honors

An EKU accounting senior has been honored by the University's Center for Career and Cooperative Education.

Sam Shearer, of Winchester, received the Outstanding Co-op Student of the Year award. He was nominated by his employer, Stacey Barrier from EnSite USA, Inc., for doing outstanding jobs in his co-op role.

In November 2014 two EKU accounting majors, Leigh Compton and Melia Kemper, along with faculty members, Dr. Leslee Higgins and Dr. Trish Isaacs, attended the Institute of Management Accountants 15th Annual Student Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, In.

Unique Management Accounting Program Shows Strong Demand

The Management Accounting option at EKU was developed and made a reality largely through the efforts of Dr. Trish Isaacs. After talking with the members of the Bluegrass IMA (Institute of Management Accountants ), she and other members of the accounting faculty realized that there is a large demand for management accounting jobs.

The Institute of Management Accountants student night was held March 12, 2015.  Eastern Kentucky University had ten students and two faculty members, Dr. Leslee Higgins and Dr. Ed Fenton, in attendance.

This semester’s faculty focus is Dr. Trish Isaacs, EKU Associate Professor of Accounting. She teaches Introduction to Financial Accounting, Tax I, and the Advanced Management Accounting Seminar at the graduate and undergraduate level.
