On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, EKU Accounting hosted its annual 'Meet the Firms' night.  This professional networking event is held each fall; it provides a venue for students and firms to interact in a professional setting.

VITA Tax Program Receives National Award

Members of the EKU campus community do much more than simply contribute to the local economy.

Students, faculty and staff contributed more than 7,500 hours of volunteer service in 2015-16, with 70 individuals earning honors from The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. They were recognized at a recent campus reception.

On Wednesday, March 2, EKU’s Advanced Management Accounting Seminar class toured the manufacturing facilities of Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company. Ten students were accompanied by their professor, Dr. Trish Isaacs.  Students participating in the tour included three MBA students with a concentration in accounting and seven seniors who are accounting majors.

The Institute of Management Accountants student night was held February 28, 2016.  The evening included a presentation by Lisa James, Division Director, and Charlie Brown, Recruiting Manager, with Robert Half Inc.  They offered a number of useful tips for the job search, including how to find a job, networking, writing a resume, interviewing, and negotiating an offer.  

EKU Class Partners with Local Agencies to Provide Free Income Tax Preparation

An Eastern Kentucky University accounting class is partnering with the Central Kentucky Economic Empowerment Project and Kentucky River Foothills Community Action Agency to offer basic income tax preparation for those making $54,000 or less.
