Mark Henderson Speaks to Corporate Tax Class

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, EKU alumnus Mark S. Henderson, CPA, Partner with Breeding, Henderson & Hord PLLC, visited ACC 523/723, Taxation of Corporations. 

He began his talk by asking students about the “best” form of business organization.  His discussion addressed choice of form of business organization, including partnerships, limited liability companies, regular C corporations, and S corporations. A number of tax aspects of each of these forms was addressed, and he shared several examples from his 35 years of industry and public accounting experience. Professor Trish Isaacs stated that, “Mr. Henderson addressed many of the topics the class has studied this semester, and his practitioner perspective and wealth of experience reinforced their learning of the content. Students benefitted from his depth of knowledge and familiarity with the tax provisions they have been studying.”

Prior to Breeding, Henderson & Hord, Mr. Henderson’s professional experience included: public accounting practice as sole practitioner and as partner, tax director for a distilled spirits manufacturer, tax manager with Coopers & Lybrand, now PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and controller for a construction and real estate developer. His current clients include companies involved in a wide range of industries and types of business activities, including manufacturing, professional services, wholesalers and retailers, and real estate developers, with businesses ranging from family-owned business to foreign-owned US businesses. 

Mr. Henderson earned his bachelors degree in accounting at EKU and his MBA at the University of Kentucky. He is a CPA, and he has numerous professional affiliations. Also, he is actively involved in community service, holding positions as treasurer and board member for various community organizations.
