EKU Accounting Students Participate in IMA Student Night

Dr. Trish Isaacs and Dr. Ed Fenton with EKU Accounting students

The Institute of Management Accountants student night was held February 28, 2016.  The evening included a presentation by Lisa James, Division Director, and Charlie Brown, Recruiting Manager, with Robert Half Inc.  They offered a number of useful tips for the job search, including how to find a job, networking, writing a resume, interviewing, and negotiating an offer.

Students in attendance were given information about important professional certifications that will enhance their degrees and increase their likelihood of employment. Information about study courses to prepare students for the certification exams was offered. They were also given free membership in two professional organizations:  the Kentucky Society of CPAs and the Institute of Management Accountants.

Ten EKU accounting students, along with Professors Trish Isaacs and Ed Fenton attended the event.  Dr. Isaacs commented that “Blue Grass IMA Student Night gave our students a great opportunity to network with practicing professionals and to learn more about the accounting profession.”

Eastern Kentucky University student Michelle Miller won one of three professional review courses given as door prizes.
