Certificate in Accounting

Students with a college degree in a field other than Accounting who want to take courses to meet the requirements to sit for the CPA Exam can enroll in the Certificate in Accounting program which can be completed in as little as two years while taking classes only at night.

Requirements include: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, at least 15 of the 30 hours in the major requirements must be earned at EKU, students pursuing the Certificate in Accounting must earn a “C” or better in all courses comprising the certificate, and completion of the following courses:

  • CIS 212 - Introduction to Computer Information Systems
  • ECO 230 - Principles of Microeconomics
  • GBU 204 - Legal and Ethical Environments of Business
  • MAT 107 or 211 - College Algebra or Calculus with Applications for
    Business and Economics
  • QMB 200 - Business Statistics

  • ACC 201 - Introduction to Financial Accounting
  • ACC 202 - Introduction to Managerial Accounting
  • ACC 301 - Intermediate Accounting
  • ACC 302 - Intermediate Accounting II
  • ACC 322 - Tax I
  • ACC 327 - Cost Accounting
  • ACC 350 - Accounting Information Systems
  • ACC 440 - Legal Aspects of Accounting
  • ACC 441 - Auditing I
  • Three hours from 400-500 level Accounting courses
